THE CHALLENGES OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN BRAZIL
On 2 October 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, the Observatoire Social International hosted a working group on the challenges of Corporate Social Responsibility in Brazil and the priorities involved.
After a word of welcome from Eduardo Eugenio Gouvêa Vieira, President of the Industry Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN) which hosted the meeting, Claudine Bichara de Oliveira, head of the French-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Rio, led the discussions. Muriel Morin, President of the OSI presented an analysis of the CSR challenges affecting Brazil and the OSI’s proposals for work in the country.
Gil Maranhão, Vice-President of ENGIE Brazil, presented his company’s initiatives and achievements in terms of CSR. Laura Tamancoldi, CSR coordinator for the Children’s Institute, presented the measures it has taken for social responsibility through its partnerships with various businesses. Many participants indicated their willingness to get involved in the OSI’s activities in Brazil.
